Obituary

Sylvia Mae Traynor, 89, Spring Hill, Kansas was received into heaven on Friday, December 27, 2019, just shy of her 90th birthday. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 5, 2020 at Bruce Funeral Home, 712 S. Webster, Spring Hill, KS (913) 592-2244. Burial will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery, Spring Hill, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be made to Children’s Mercy Hospital, Kansas City, Missouri. Condolences may be left at www.brucefuneralhome.com

Sylvia was born in Wichita, Kansas on January 6, 1930 to Stanley Lyons and Arvella Mae White. She lived in several places in Kansas and Missouri while growing up. She went to Beauty School and studied to become a hair stylist. Sylvia was the owner of her own beauty shop, Hair Style in KC until 1993. She married Chester Black and later Wayne B. Traynor. She enjoyed styling hair, sewing, cooking, working in her flower garden and creating floral designs. Raising her family provided Sylvia with much happiness. She had a very kind heart and loved her grandchildren enormously. Sylvia was a hospice volunteer until 1994 when she moved to Cassville, Missouri and later to Spring Hill in 2013. Known as a “prayer warrior”, Sylvia was a woman of substance who unselfishly gave her time and love to others. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Wayne and grandsons David and Joe Black. Sylvia is survived by her children: Kathy Pruitt (Jerry), Chester “Rod” Black (Minnie), Sharen Black, Warren Traynor (Bonnie), Kathy McLain, Scott Traynor, Glen Traynor (Tammy) and Mark Traynor; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren: 2 great- great-grandchildren; many brothers and sisters and extended family and friends.

Mark,
I am so sorry for the loss of your Mother. She was a special lady. You are in my prayers and I will be thinking of you. I hope life has been good to you.
Maybe someday I will have the opportunity to "Guess who?" with you again.
Peace and Love,
Your second grade teacher
