Carolyn Jeanne Shindler, 75, formerly of Overland Park, KS passed away Sept. 21, 2019 at Hillside Village of De Soto, KS. Visitation 9:30 am Fri., Sept. 27, 2019 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am all at Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 555 W. Main, Gardner, KS. Carolyn was born Dec. 25, 1943 in Corpus Christi, TX to Robert Emmett and Emma Jeanne (Utz) Shindler. She graduated in 1961 from Ypsilanti, Michigan High School. Carolyn earned a BA and Master’s Degree in English Literature and Language from UMKC. Carolyn was an Adult Ed. Instructor at Metropolitan Community College for five years. She later worked for the IRS as a technical writer for many years in KCMO; retiring in 1999. Genealogy was her passion. Carolyn volunteered at the Johnson County Main Library in the Genealogy Dept. She had several pet birds and loved to travel. Carolyn especially enjoyed a special trip she made to Ireland with her family. She was a talented writer and truly an artist; creating many sculptures and paintings. Carolyn will be missed by family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents. Carolyn is survived by her siblings: Robert Emmett Shindler, Jr., Denver, CO, Susan Marie Mueller, Shelton, NE, Nanette Arlene Breer, Long Beach, WA, Debra Diane Chauvin, Spring Hill, KS, Peggy Ann Tevebaugh, Overland Park, KS and Janet Lyn Norman, Kissimmee, FL and many well-loved nieces and nephews.
