Richard “Dick” LeRoy Riedel, 83, Wellsville, Kansas, formerly of Gardner, Kansas passed away Monday, March 18, 2019 at Wellsville Retirement Center, Wellsville, Kansas. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 28, 2019 at Bruce Funeral Home, 106 South Center, Gardner, Kansas, one hour prior to the graveside service. Inurnment will be held 2:30 p.m. Thursday, March 28, 2019 at Gardner Cemetery, Gardner, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be made to VITAS Hospice. Condolences may be left at

Richard was born on September 2, 1935 to Anton and Anna Fern (Deibert) Riedel in Kansas City, Missouri. He graduated from Colby High School and attended Fort Hays State University. On April 8, 1956 in Colby, Kansas Richard married Kolean Elaine Kean. Richard worked in the banking business as a Loan Officer for 34 years. His banking job took him to New Mexico and Arizona as well as Kansas. Richard came to Gardner in 1996, working for Metcalf Bank in Gardner now known as Central Bank of the Midwest. Richard was an 11 year member of the Army National Guard. He was also a member of the United Methodist Church in Colby, Kansas and Lions Club in Arizona. Richard enjoyed sports and was an avid KU fan. While living in Arizona when his sons were young, he was an administrator for their football program.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Kolean who passed away in 2016, brother Ron Riedel, and sister-in-law Barbara Kean Faurot. He is survived by his sons Kevin Michael Riedel (Ann Klausing) of Southlake, Texas and Kraig Alan Riedel of Lenexa, Kansas; former daughter-in-laws Cindy Riedel and Debbie Walker; grandchildren: Ryan Michael Riedel, Joshua Alan Riedel, Nathan Sikes Riedel, Abigail Hope Riedel, Alexis Elaine Riedel and Madeline Kean Riedel; sister Kaylene Crabb of Washington DC and sister-in-laws: Joyann Kean Kimsey, Cheryl Kean Wells, and Kathleen Riedel and many nieces and nephews.
