Norma Lee Voigts, 94, of Wellsville, previously of Edgerton, KS , passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, May 21, 2018 at the Wellsville Retirement Community. Visitation 10-11:00 am Friday, May 25, 2018 at Bruce Funeral Home, 106 S. Center, Gardner, KS 913-856-7111. Graveside service 2:00 pm Friday, May 25, 2018 at Lenexa Cemetery, Lenexa, KS. Memorial contributions may be made to Gardner Athena Scholarship Fund. Condolences may be left at www.brucefuneralhome.com
Norma was born August 12, 1923 in Overland Park, KS to Roy L. and Alice B. Goddard. She was a graduate of Shawnee Mission Rural High School (now SM North). In her later years, she took classes at KU, UMKC, JCCC and Baker University. Before she was married, she worked at the Johnson County Courthouse in the Treasurer’s Office. On July 7, 1950, she married Norman L. Voigts of Lenexa at the Overland Park Presbyterian Church. They resided in Lenexa until 1977 when they moved to Edgerton. Norma was a life-long resident of Johnson County. She was a secretary in the Olathe School District for many years at Countryside and Westview Elementary Schools. Norma was an avid reader and kept informed on current events. She was a member of the Gardner Athena Club, Gardner Reading Group, EHU, Rural Life, JoCo Farm Bureau Board member and the Olathe Presbyterian Church.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Norman on Feb. 7, 2014 and son-in-law, Jay Holmes. She is survived by her children: Alice Ann (Dave) Moeller of Edmond, OK, Martha Lee Holmes of Edgerton, KS and Charles Winfield (Karen) Voigts of Olathe; four grandchildren: David K. Jr. (Tera) Moeller, Daniel K. (Courtney) Moeller, Robert C. Voigts and Kelly A. Voigts and five great-grandchildren.
