Condolence From: Eugene and Mary Ann Butler
Condolence: Our son Grant alerted us to the passing of one of his most beloved teachers. His 4th grade at Pawnee School was the beginning of his love for library and research, for history and writing. He's now writing for the Portland Oregonian newspaper. We honor her memory for the patience, humor, and love of learning her teaching inspired.

Condolence: Mrs. Zimmerman was on of the best teachers I ever had. I didn’t know it at the time in the late 1970's as a fourth grade student, but I do now. She taught me a lot that I still use today. One of the best things I recall was her giving the class assignments to make lists of different items; fish or a list of volcanos. She always cheered us on and made us give our best effort. I was, like many, fortunate to have had her as a teacher and person in my life. Rest in peace.

Condolence: I knew Loretta Zimmerman as Mrs. Zimmerman. She was my 4th grade teacher at Pawnee Elementary - that was 30 years ago. At first I didn't know how to take Mrs. Zimmerman... she was animated and intense. As time went on I became so captivated with her. I realized she was playing with us and keeping us in line while still allowing us to be somewhat mischievous (as 4th graders are). She had funny expressions and would purse her red lips together and crouch down low when anyone would say the word "Jaguar"... We never knew what that word symbolized to her, but I think it was her way of letting us believe we had one over on her. She would let herself be the butt of the joke, which enthralled all of us. She had such a fantastic teaching style - this way of keeping us engaged and interested. A cool memory was when she had a snake wrangler come into the class and I held my first snake, which was bigger then me! I just thought Mrs.Zimmerman was such a sweet soul. She is the only teacher that I bring up and have shared stories about throughout my adulthood. I wish I told her how much she touched my life. Hope she knows that she was loved by her students. Rest in Peace Spunky Mrs. Zimmerman. Much Love to you and your family~

Condolence: Loretta has been a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, an honorary society of women educators, for over 50 years. Since she moved to Freedom Pointe, I had been giving her rides to our meetings and always enjoyed her company, her stories about her teaching career, and her explanations of the most recent activities at Freedom Pointe, almost all of which she attended. All of her Delta Kappa Gamma sisters will miss her.
