Evelyn Maxine Duncan McVey 91, of Spring Hill, KS passed away Monday, May 28, 2018 at Olathe Medical Center, Olathe, KS. Visitation will be Friday, June 1, 2018 at Bruce Funeral Home, 712 S. Webster, Spring Hill, KS 66083 (913-592-2244) from 10:00 a.m. to Noon. Private family burial at Spring Hill Cemetery, Spring Hill, KS. Maxine was born on September 29, 1926 in Spring Hill, KS to Max Charles and Lucretia (Berkshire ) Wendt. She grew up in the Spring Hill area, graduating from Spring Hill High School in 1944. She married Edward Duncan on January 21, 1945. Maxine and Edward were parents to daughter, Linda and son, Larry. Maxine was a secretary at ONAS. She then went to work for the FAA from which she retired. Maxine later married Warren McVey. Maxine was a member of the Spring Hill United Methodist Church and Cole-Smith Unit 350 American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Maxine enjoyed being with her family, playing Bingo games and traveling.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, husband Edward, son Larry and four brothers Charles, Herbert, James, and Edward L. Wendt.
She is survived by husband Warren of the home; daughter Linda Devoy (Bernie) of Topeka, KS; daughter-in-law Sherry Duncan, Hillsdale, KS; brother Francis Wendt (Bonnie), Osawatomie, KS; sister Carol Rogers (Wayne), Clearwater, FL; stepchildren Steve McVey (Sandy), Spring Hill, KS, Jan Yocom (Joel), Paola, KS, Mark McVey (Stacey), Overland Park, KS; three grandchildren; Jenni Harrison (Andy), Natalie Woods (Mark) and Matthew Duncan and six great-grandchildren; Max Harrison, Sam Harrison, Phoebe Harrison, Darren Woods, Mitchell Woods, and Levi Woods, nine step-grandchildren and nine step-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
