Obituary for Daniel Joseph Kaufman
Daniel Joseph Kaufman, 66, of Greenville, Texas passed away on December 19, 2017 peacefully at his home with his family by his side. Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Bruce Funeral Home, 712 S. Webster, Spring Hill, KS. 913-592-2244. Inurnment at Hillsdale Cemetery, Hillsdale, KS will follow the service. Dan was born August 13, 1951 in Kansas City, KS to Kenneth and Betty (DeVader) Kaufman. Dan grew up in the Spring Hill-Hillsdale-Paola area and graduated from Spring Hill High School in 1969. He obtained his degree in Electronic Engineering from Schweitzer Technical School in Wichita, KS. Dan worked for Texas Instruments as equipment engineer in Houston, TX. He later relocated to Dallas, TX and retired after 33 years of service. Dan married Sue Engle on July 16, 1993 in Texas.
Dan was an active member of the Catholic Church where he was involved in many charitable events. He was an active member of Greenville local chapter of the Knights of Columbus where he served as a 3rd degree Knight.
Dan enjoyed the outdoors, hiking, camping, mountain climbing, bird hunting and was an avid gardener. He enjoyed taking back roads for adventure and living life at a slower pace. He particularly enjoyed the company of family, friends and neighbors. Dan never met a stranger. His favorite parting phrase “Happy Trails to You” is how he wanted to say goodbye to all he loved.
Dan is preceded in death by his parents. Dan is survived by his wife Sue of the home, daughters Megan Kaufman (Justin) of Greenville, TX and Kristina Gwinn (Kevin) of Clifton Park, NY, sister Julie (Bill) Hilton of Olathe, KS, granddaughter Annslee, nephew John Hilton and nieces Sara (Matt) Gamblin and Emily Hilton. Dan leaves behind a large extended family and many lifelong friends.
A memorial service was held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Commerce, TX on January 6, 2018.
