Walter was born March 26, 1931 in Birmingham, AL to Jacqulin Loraine (Weathers) and Walter Scott Kennon, Sr. He served in the Air Force from 1949 to 1952. Walter married Mary Emma Coon on Aug. 1, 1952 in Birmingham. They lived in Overland Park, Olathe and moved to Gardner in 1980. He worked as a manager for General Electric in the Appliance Division. Walter loved motorcycles, gardening, cooking, traveling and camping. He was a member of the Patriot Guard, American Legion Post 19 in Gardner, American Legion Riders and the Gardner First Baptist Church. Walter and Mary are now able to celebrate their 65th Wedding Anniversary, “Together Forever”. Walter will be missed by friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Mary, in April 2017. Walter is survived by daughters: Mary Singleton, Gardner, KS and Teresa and husband Bryan Nelson in Kansas City, KS; son, Curtis and wife Debbie Kennon, Gardner, KS; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
